‘A History of Lake Guyatt’ is an online exhibition curated by Allison Yanez Arts Director at the Bond Street Event Centre, Gippsland Victoria.
The online exhibition draws on archives from the Gippsland Art Gallery (www.gippslandartgallery.com), Sale Historical Society, Synan Collection, Guyatt Family Archives , Sale Central Rotary Club as well as from contemporary Australian artists who have created artworks with an environmental theme.
‘A History of Lake Guyatt’ explains the development of the Lake Guyatt Precinct from once a rubbish tip to now a beautifully landscaped area with many native indigenous plants, several families of red gums with high cultural and biodiversity values, an abundance of wildlife, walking tracks and a newly developed Environment and Cultural Education Centre (Nakunbalook), Gunaikurnai for Grandfather Gumtree.
The exhibition has a sustainability theme where only recycled materials have been used in the development of the live exhibition.
This year, ‘A History of Lake Guyatt’ will be presented online on the Bond Street Event Centre website and social media platform ‘Facebook’ and on the History Month Website. Do you love history? Check out more history events here on the History Month Website:
