Join us for a captivating evening at the Bond Street Event Centre on Thursday, June 26th at 7:00pm, as historian, author, and heritage advocate Count Rudi Paoletti shares his stories from years of exploration in the Walhalla–Woods Point region.
A Personal Journey Through History
Rudi's journey began in 1994 with a mapping project in the high country, sparking a lifelong mission to uncover and protect the region’s rich heritage. His work has led to the documentation of forgotten communities, lost trails, and gold rush-era relics that shaped Victoria’s rugged past.
The Aberfeldy Track: A Living Museum
Founder of the Aberfeldy Track Historic Touring Route, Rudi now leads a team of passionate volunteers in preserving one of Victoria’s most significant historic touring routes. The track winds through old coach roads, crumbling settlements, and hidden relics, each with its own tale waiting to be told.
Launch of the Expeditions Series
The evening will also mark the official launch of Rudi’s latest literary project: the Expeditions Series. This new body of work offers a behind-the-scenes look at how history is rediscovered—from field research and drone surveys to the use of LiDAR technology and archival overlays. These modern tools help bring long-lost stories back to life.
The Lone Grave of Kitty Bell
Rudi will close the talk with the remarkable discovery of the lone grave of Kitty Bell, a haunting and emotional story unearthed with the help of his dedicated team. It’s a powerful reminder of the lives that once shaped this isolated landscape—and the importance of remembering them.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase Rudi’s publications at discounted prices and speak directly with the man who’s walked every ridge and uncovered the untold history of this extraordinary region.
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to connect with the forgotten past, guided by one of Victoria’s passionate heritage custodians.
Entry will be $10.00, with the bar open and complimentary tea and coffee available. For more information, call David on (03) 5182 8770.
